Pow Wow Workshops
Pow Wow Dance Workshops & Cultural Education
Reconciliation begins with understanding, respect, and a willingness to learn. Pow Wow dancing offers a powerful way to engage with Indigenous culture through lived experience, movement, and story. These workshops create a safe and welcoming space where participants can learn directly from Indigenous teachings, connect through movement and build meaningful awareness of the histories, cultures, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples. Through pow wow dance, we honour the past while creating opportunities for understanding and connection today. This work invites all people — Indigenous and non-Indigenous — to move forward together with respect, open hearts, and a commitment to learning.
I am a Pow Wow dancer, cultural educator, and workshop facilitator with a lifelong connection to Indigenous dance, teachings, and storytelling. I have been dancing pow wow since the age of two, and today I continue to travel the Pow Wow trail, dancing and competing in Women’s Fancy bringing forward my own unique style while awakening my spirit through movement.
My workshops focus on Pow Wow dancing, the teachings behind each dance style, and the traditional stories passed down from our ancestors. Participants learn basic Pow Wow steps, how to combine movements, and gain an understanding of each distinct style of Pow Wow dance. We also explore the different Pow Wow songs, learning how each song connects to specific dance styles and teachings. These workshops are full-body movement experiences that support heart health, physical wellness, and spiritual connection. Movement is used as a way to reconnect with ourselves, our culture, and the teachings that link us back to the Creator.

I have taught at over 200 schools and organizations working with students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adults at various organizations. Workshops are typically offered as full-day or half day programs split into groups with an opportunity for a Pow Wow dance performance in full regalia, offering participants a deeper visual and cultural experience and bringing the teachings together in a powerful way. There is an opportunity to book just a pow wow performance in full regalia explaining the teachings and songs beforehand.
These workshops emphasize how Pow Wow dancing connects directly to Indigenous culture, identity, and teachings. They create a respectful and inclusive learning environment where participants are encouraged to ask questions, move with intention, and gain a deeper appreciation for Indigenous ways of knowing. The teachings shared are ancestral, rooted in tradition, and continue to guide how we move, learn, and connect today.
These workshops support reconciliation by creating space for truth, learning, and shared experience. By engaging with Pow Wow dancing, participants gain a deeper appreciation for Indigenous cultures, the importance of cultural continuity, and the role movement plays in healing and wellness. Through dance, teachings, and connection, we honour our ancestors while contributing to a healthier, more understanding future for generations to come.
